Paintball pistols

If you have been playing paintball for a while, you will almost certainly have heard of paintball pistols. They are basically a chopped down version of a regular marker but with a few differences. Some of them good and some not so good. Instead of using large tanks such as a marker, it uses a 12 gram co2 cartridge. The cartridges are very small and fit inside the pistol, giving it a sleek profile. The down side to being small is having no more than 24 shots. Another down side to cartridges is they aren't reusable. Pistols use clips to hold the paint balls rather than a bulky hopper used by markers.

The the million dollar question: Are they worth it? The answer will vary depending on who you ask. With the cost for a decent pistol between $100-$250 I don't think it is worth the price tag. ( just think you could upgrade from a 98c to an X-7 for just $160) Some people will disagree by saying, if you are out of air or paint they can come in handy. I say, instead of spending an extra $150 carry an extra 9oz and pod with you.

Pros:

They look cool.

They're small, light and easy to carry.

They help with the realism. (have you ever seen a soldier without a sidearm)

Cons:

12 gram co2=24 shots (compared to a 9 oz which can get 400+ shots)

They aren't nearly as accurate as a full size marker.

The cartridges aren't reusable and they leak after the first shot.

If you want to shoot more than ten shots you'll want to buy extra clips which can be expensive, up to $50 per clip. The first time you are pinned down with paint balls flying all around, trying to fill your one clip, you'll realize how important extra clips are.
